Cloakroom Buying Guide
Once considered a luxury, downstairs toilets and cloakrooms have become a “must-have” feature for many houses these days. But with cloakroom space usually restricted, it can be challenging to find bathroom products that combine great design with compact dimensions. Don’t worry, we have put together a helpful guide to choosing smaller basins, furniture and toilets that will make your cloakroom shine.
Basins
If your cloakroom is on the small-side, it goes without saying that a traditional large basin is not going to work. Instead opt for a compact wall-hung basin to maximise space within the room. You can combine a cloakroom basin with an exposed bottle trap for a minimalist look and we have a great selection of small basin taps that will work perfectly with compact basins.
Vanity units and furniture
If you want to incorporate storage into your cloakroom, a basin vanity unit is the perfect choice. A wall hung vanity unit will help create a feeling of space and makes cleaning the floor that bit easier. Floor standing vanity units are easy to fit and can cover up unsightly pipework. A combination furniture unit is another option to create extra storage in your cloakroom, you can even get units that combine a basin and toilet all in one!
Compact toilets
There are plenty of space-saving options when it comes to fitting a toilet in a cloakroom. If space is very limited, a compact close-coupled toilet will take up the least room. If you have room for a concealed cistern or wall hung frame (allow 200mm minimum for either, including furniture), a compact back-to-wall or wall-hung toilet will help keep the room tidy and make it feel bigger.
Finishing touches and décor
A cloakroom is a chance to show off some serious bathroom style to your family and friends. Don’t be shy to make use of bold wallpaper, colourful tiles or creative pictures. Choose eye-catching brassware like black or brushed brass taps to create a real statement and don’t forget the finishing touches such as bathroom accessories, candles and even plants to tie it all together.
